I've used brushes like this in HappyWorldJumps but I wouldn't use it again. Some guys have reported issues with mitsu's build where the brushes are not invisible.

I'd just use a cull none shader for urt as valkover suggests. You can also tick some boxes in the textures tab to see both sides in blender. I don't remember by heart which boxes though.

Yeah, most of the time I mark seams and then unwrap. Sometimes I just select some faces and unwrap without marking seams. Especially when I need to unwrap from view.

According to Bladekiller Frankie did a 500000 tris map (500000 tris in one model is the max q3map2 will compile) with simple clip brushes and it runs at 125 fps. Collision affects fps more than tris, that's why models and simple clip brushes are prefered in HD.
