Max breakables?

Post by RageQuit »

Hey everyone, I'm planning on making a map that is somewhere around 80% destructible. The only thing that is stopping me is I'm not sure about the limits of Radiant and/or UrT. Does anyone know how breakables affect fps? I know a few don't do anything, but I am worried that many, along with lighting and people playing, may create some serious lag.

256 is the maximum number of brush entities you can have in a map. and yes, it will be quite laggy...

AFAIK, Antic (made by an FS crew member, can't really remember the name) is a "destroyable" map.

^ No it's not.

Depending on how you use them it's not necessarily laggy. If you got like a hundred glass windows it won't do too much since the entities don't even need to be updated.
If you're going for destructible walls or buildings, screw it. :)

Well, honestly the idea started as making an open replacement for a map called t3h wallhack which was for private use only but was pretty popular. From there it turned in to all breakable windows, and at some point it became just a breakable map. So 100 windows might not be too far off from what I want to do.
