Blender to Urban Terror

Post by krasus »

Hey guys,

been a while since I've mapped or done anything Urban terror related.
Started using blender at the end of last year and I am wondering how I can get my models into GTK, textured. I've got them successfully into GTK, but they haven't been textured and I cant figure out how to do it.

Just to be clear, they are textured in blender ;)

Your material name in blender will be the texture used by radiant. So your material names should be something like textures/mymap/texture1. Just to make sure, which file format did you choose for export / import into radiant?
Have a happy day! :)

I was testing out .ase files, so possibly that is the reason.

you can edit the paths using notepad to open the .ase file.
Be sure to keep the models in the mapobjects folder

Ase is the best choice. Make sure the material name is correct, or like xandaxs said you can edit it with a text editor, adjusting the lines starting with "*MATERIAL_NAME". There's no need to use a mapobjects folder, you can place your models and textures anywhere you like as long as the paths point to the right place.

Yeah I took a look at that, I have already edited:

*MATERIAL_NAME "models/shipping/mapobjects/c_shippingcontainer/textures/"

Does the model have to be in the same folder as the texture? it is located in the c_shippingcontainer/ folder.

It doesn't matter where the model is. The model just needs to specify where the textures are via the material name. In radiant you import the model from wherever it is and the model gets the textures. During the compile the model gets baked into the bsp file and you don't need to include the model in the pk3, only the textures.

I just use textures/mymap/ for all my textures including the textures for models and models/mymap for all my models. I don*t include the latter folder in my pk3. Nice and simple.
Have a happy day! :)
