Skeet shooting 2012

Post by johnnyenglish »

The official promotion video by SevenofNine

Another year and another skeet map by CMM.

This year we spent a lot of time testing out alternative layouts for the competition, initial designs were tested mainly by |ALPHA|GanjaGuy and his feedback and attention to detail helped turn this concept...

into this...

Can I thank everyone who has helped make this map, especially Pickles who tested every change and SevenofNine for all his work.

RUNNING THE MAP

For server owners who wish to run the map, there is a set of suggested configuration files in the .pk3

INSTALLATION

Extract the skeetconfig.zip (contained in the pk3), this contains 3 files
server.cfg
skeetcycle.txt
skeetbots.txt

server.cfg is a replacement server.cfg file (back up your current one)

Having backed up your current server.cfg, copy the server.cfg,
skeetbots.txt and skeetcycle.txt files to your q3ut4 server folder -

EDIT THE PASSWORDS in the server.cfg file to suit.

Execute the server.cfg from console or rcon (eg. /rcon exec server.cfg)

PROBLEM?

The map has been tested as far as possible (the competition is supposed to be secret so testing is difficult). During testing this binary was used:

FS Server Binary

One of the biggest problems running the map is that the bots will crash your server, while the reasons for this are generally not known there are things you can do to help eliminate this.

1) Remove all other 3rd party maps from your servers q3ut4 folder
2) Remove the 4.11 additional pk3's, these have been found to cause a problem. See for more information
3) Use a rambetter binary - with the patch to limit pk3s loaded by the server available here Rambetters Binary
4) Increase the amount of memory allocated to the server on start up, add +set com_hunkmegs 1024 to the startup script.

If you have any further problems, feel free to contact me: john@custommapmakers.org or #cmm on freenode

Thanks
