Map of the Month (28th September 2012)

Post by johnnyenglish »

UT4_LOCO by Spazzattack

loco.jpg

After some discussion and speaking with several mappers it was decided that the map ut4_loco by SpazzAttack would be a great place to start the "map of the month". We were also going to use tohunga_b10 but after speaking with SevenofNine it was thought that 2 maps would be too much to fully explore in one hour, so we hope to use tohunga_b10 next month.

Spazzattack is one of my favourite mappers, his work is quirky and doesn't follow the traditional rules for mapping Urban Terror but his maps are very popular on public servers and are full of little suprises. Personally I love his skylift map which runs 2 or 3 times a day on the busy Urban Terror for Terrorists server.

This map, ut4_loco is a little different from his previous releases and may be more suited to competitive play.

SpazzAttack is currently making a "fixed" version of this map and we hope to have it ASAP, I'll load it onto the CMM server when we have this. SpazzAttack is also going to be joining us on the server on the 28th so, drop by and say hi.

I'll post more about this closer to the event.

See Map of the Month for user comments page.

This page will be open to everyone, not just cmm forum members... obviously this means someone will need to keep an eye on what gets posted, I've added a delete function for users of the "rayne" panel.

Just to check.. Will this "fixed" version of the map have these improvements:
- No more FPS drops and low FPS.
- No more shiny white water at fountain.
- No more telephone secret trigger?
- A proper layout that can sustain a good game (yeah, I don't see where you managed to find a "may be more suited to competitive play". The map is a freaking rectangle with nothing to it..

This first Map of the Month will sound like a joke this way..

2 things I like in this map:
- Sexy water going up and down on the lavatories *-*
- Sexy "sofas"(?) inside the trains

Well we'll see how the map plays on the 28th, the mapper is obviously looking for quality feedback and while it's true the map may never be picked up by competitive scene it deserves to be tested and played. The same will apply to jump maps.

As far as I know spazzattack has never suggested he makes maps for competition, his maps have had a lot of success on public servers and have entertained a lot of people.

I'm not questioning that! :)

As long as he fixes the FPS, then I'm cool

lol, well it's happening tonight (28th September 2012), first map chosen, loaded onto the server and invites sent out. SevenofNine has produced some nice artwork and will no doubt be spamming the world.

8pm CEST on the 4.11 CMM server (connect www.custommapmakers.org), spazzattack will be there also and is looking for quality feedback.

I'll be there with Picola and anyone else who wants to join in, feel free and come play but DONT SHOOT ME!!! My eyes are old and my reflexs are 50+ years old.

Be there - or be a square :-)
