Unlock Sawns in UrT :o

No. Not a feature suggestion/request.

I played around with the entities a bit an built a spawn unlock system.
I'm thinking about a map made of many spheres/platforms that have CAH points on them. Now some also have a spawn that a team can 'unlock' / activate. (actually it uses doors and teleporters)

Should be quite cool on a large CAH map, where it normally takes quite a lot of time to get to the capture point again...

Short Example:
2 platforms, each is a team spawn. a central platform, witht he unlockable spawn on it.
get close to it and your team will unlock the spawn for 30 secs. after that it will time out and can be recaptured by another team.
You cant camp in the spawn because you get killed 5 sec after you teleported there.

Im not sure why only one team can unlock the spawn atm. (that problem stared as i split the trigger brush for the unlock)

I tried it, didn't really understand what or where I was supposed to go, lemming a few times, gave up.

Perhaps I'm being thick.

  1. play the map on a teamplay mode,
  2. You will see a fence door behind you. (closed)
  3. go into the teleporter/portal on your spawn platform,
  4. now approach to the structure on the central platform.
  5. A bigtext msg should appear telling you that your team.
  6. now kill yourself. (or jump back to the spawn platform (or your team.)
  7. the fence in your spawn should now be opened.
  8. Once you enter the room you will be teleported to the structure on the central platform
  9. If you stay inside the structure for > 5 sec you will be killed (blocking spawn, still working on a system denying multiple people to use the teleport at the same time.
Pretty simple :P

Not as simple as building up lists in BB code obviously. IDK why it doesnt work.....

what do you mean 'like assault mode' ?
in CAH (capture and hold) you dont win by reducing your opponents team points, but by getting points for each CP at the end of a minute.

hm. didnt knew that such a thing existed. But yeah. its kind of it. But that assault mode is map based at server based.
also assault mode is a special gametype, played as TDM for the baseic game.
the spawn unluck system would only be map based. and the spawns could be availible in and team gametype with respawning during a round (TDM, CAH, FFA) if i dont restrict it.
Still the basic system of changing 'spawns' would be the same, only that with the spawn unlock system the player could choose where to "spawn" (teleport) whereas for assault mode "spawns" are automatically changed.

Capture/Conquest/Domination mode aka, take hold of points that let you then spawn into them?

yeah. thats about what the unlock system would do. you wouldnt have a gui to choose a spawn (like in BF). but in your teams spawn you could walk into a door/teleporter that would get you there.

the assault mode would change spawns automatically, dependent on the gamephase.
